Along the 6 miles of beach on the Sea of Cortes in this area the Development of Las Conchas has been built, where to this date over 700 homes have been constructed with investments that run from $300,000 us dlls to over $2 million dlls, mostly belonging to foreigners making it an exclusive residential area in Puerto Peñasco. The first house was built in the 60´s and used generators for power since there was no electricity available to that area. Soon other homes followed and in the need for an organized growth, the Las Conchas Homeowners Association was formed that to this day regulates the functioning of the Development. This Association regulates the CC&Rs based on a Mediterranean style of construction, they redistribute the water, collect the trash, maintain the roads and provide security among other activities. The continuous development and investment going on in Las Conchas is noteworthy. Important condo projects of low and medium density stand out such as Corona del Mar, Corona del Sol, Marbella, the Village, Ballena Estates, Villas Las Conchas, Linda Vista and Caracoles. Tessoro is another major project although it is high density. In the year 2006 a group of visionary developers along with the Cortes Family got together and formed the Union of Touristic Developers of Puerto Peñasco A.C with the purpose of being self sufficient in water through the construction of a Desalinization Plant and Water Treatment Plant . Ing. Oscar Rico is the director. This Desalt plant which is built has a projected capacity of 2,250 cubic meters per day through 5 modules that will provide water to 1500 units utilizing the inverse osmosis system. Said plant takes salt water from an extraction well 250 meters deep and the residuals shall be put back into another well for that purpose. To this date the first stage of treatment plant has been built and will provide service to 750 units through simplified extended aeration. We are also building an electric line that will provide service to the projected 1500 units to the North of Boulevard Las Conchas. As part of the improvement, we paved the first part of Blvd Las Conchas. These improvements represent an investment in services and infrastructure of $7.15 million dollars. The access to these new projects is Blvd Las Conchas and to modernize it we are building the “Glorieta” Las Conchas Resorts. This is an important and functional main roadway being built to the highest of standards and design and is an indicator of the important things to come within Las Conchas Resorts. It also frames the entrance into town from the south, from the new international airport, Mayan Palace and Caborca. This is being built with support from the City of Puerto Peñasco. |
